  1. I think every child needs to improve their writing - my boys are in 7th and 11th grade and my oldest is just now starting to write better, I think writing goes by the wayside in order or reading and math o get more ttnion in the younger grades- with texting around now sometimes the kids even text talk when thy write- so irritating

  2. Thanks Stacey,
My supervisor wants me to focus on secondary writing in an effort to help prepare the students for college. My biggest problem is finding activities for us to implement.

  3. I think this is a great idea. I can see my own child benefiting from this knowledge. I think the research will go a long ways into helping you with this project. I am really interested in seeing your results.

  4. Finding strategies to help students of all ages write better is an important goal. I think that one of the downsides of the 21st Century Learner is that writing skills have suffered greatly. When I receive letters and emails from my students and their parents, invariably there is some form on "texting" shortcuts or abbreviations used. My students also have a hard time distinguishing between formal writing and the way we write to friends. I like your idea!

  5. This is a great idea. Are you only focusing on struggling writers or is this a campus wide project? This can be beneficial to all students. I look forward to seeing your progress.

  6. Domanique,
I will be focusing on secondary writing. I am the Academica Director of a small private school. My school is k-12, but as I mentioned is very small.

  7. So many students lack writing skills, possibly because they do not have a grasp on how to. Your research sounds intriging.
